Course content

Our T Level Technical Qualification in Digital Support Services prepares you to specialise in Networking and Cyber Security. It is a 2-year qualification which presents a curriculum co-designed with our collaborating employers and industry experts to equip you with deep knowledge and technical skills that will enable you to smoothly progress into your desired destination (which is likely to be either an IT job, University studies, higher level apprenticeship or further technical training.

It is a mixture of classroom learning and on-the-job experience which comes from the 315 hours of industry placement (approximately 45 days) that is embedded into the course. You will have the opportunity to put all the theory and practical skills gained from classroom learning directly into an IT work environment under the mentoring of industry experts.

In your first year, you will study core components in Networking, Security, Data, Digital Analysis, Testing and Legislation - amongst other topics (including employer set project). In your second year, you will study the Cyber Security occupational specialism component where you apply procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of an organisation and its data, including risk assessment and systems evaluation.

T Level is a composite technical study programme, aimed at preparing young people for work, higher level apprenticeships or higher education (HE). It comprises 5 key components:

  • an approved technical qualification, which includes the opportunity to specialise in at least one occupational role.
  • a substantial industry placement with an external employer.
  • English, mathematics and digital requirements.
  • employability, enrichment and pastoral elements (EEP).
  • in some cases, it may also include mandatory additional requirements (MAR), such as important licence to practise qualifications.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9-4, including English language and Maths.

Merit on Level 2 IT course, including GCSE grade 9-4 English language and Maths.
