Course content
Develop your technical and creative skills for a future career in programming, web development or cloud computing with this Level 2 course. You’ll gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to understand computer systems, write code, build websites and explore how cloud technology supports digital infrastructure. The course provides a strong foundation for progression to Level 3 study, an apprenticeship or employment in the IT and digital sectors.
During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:
- Programming in multiple languages such as Python, C++ and Java
- Writing, testing and debugging code for software applications
- Designing and developing websites and digital interfaces
- Understanding cloud infrastructure and computing environments
- Delivering systems design and learning best practices in cloud deployment
- Networking principles and digital security awareness
You’ll also have the opportunity to:
- Apply your programming and web design skills to real-world digital projects
- Gain hands-on experience through a two-week industry work placement
- Participate in enrichment activities, educational visits and guest speaker sessions
- Develop your confidence in teamwork, communication and problem-solving
- Enhance your English and Maths skills alongside your main study programme
- Prepare for progression to a Level 3 qualification, apprenticeship or employment in programming, web development or cloud computing

Entry requirements
- GCSE profile: Minimum 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (or equivalent), including English and maths at grade 3 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 1 qualification.
- Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete an English and maths assessment and take part in an interview to confirm the right starting level for your study programme.
- English and maths during your course: If you haven’t yet achieved grade 4 in English and/or maths, you’ll continue studying these alongside your main qualification.
- Suitability: Positive attitude to learning, regular attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
- Placement checks (if required): For courses that include a work placement, a DBS check may be required by the placement provider.
- Interest in coding, web tools and cloud platforms.
