Course content
Gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to begin your journey into the world of management and finance with this Level 2 course. You’ll develop an understanding of how businesses operate, how financial decisions are made, and how money is managed effectively within different business environments. The course provides a strong foundation for progression to Level 3 study, an apprenticeship or entry-level employment in business, accounting or financial services.
During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:
- Understanding business organisations and their structures
- Communication skills for the workplace
- Personal budgeting and money management
- Finance in a business context
- Supporting sustainability in a business environment
You’ll also have the opportunity to:
- Develop practical business and financial management skills through applied projects

- Take part in a two-week work placement within the management or finance sector
- Enhance your English and Maths skills alongside your main study programme
- Participate in enrichment activities and weekly tutorials with one-to-one support

Open Events at Newham CollegeEntry requirements
- GCSE profile: Minimum 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (or equivalent), including English and maths at grade 3 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 1 qualification.
- Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete an English and maths assessment and take part in an interview to confirm the right starting level for your study programme.
- English and maths during your course: If you haven’t yet achieved grade 4 in English and/or maths, you’ll continue studying these alongside your main qualification.
- Suitability: Positive attitude to learning, regular attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
- Placement checks (if required): For courses that include a work placement, a DBS check may be required by the placement provider.
- Interest in finance, accuracy and business communication.
