This qualification is designed for learners who have completed a Level 2 Electrical Installation course and want to progress their skills in system design, inspection, testing, and fault diagnosis. You’ll gain the advanced knowledge and practical ability required to work as an electrician or progress to higher-level training within the building services industry.

Open Events at Newham CollegeEntry requirements
- GCSE profile: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification (normally at Merit or above, where specified).
- Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete any required assessments and attend an interview to confirm the right starting level.
- Suitability: Positive attitude, strong attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
- English and Maths: Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader.
- Additional checks (if required): Some courses need a DBS check for placements; kit/uniform or professional presentation may also be required, depending on the course.
- GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above; strong numeracy for electrical principles.

This course is free for 16-18 students.
The course fee for adults (19+) is TBC.
