Course content
Take your creativity to the next level with this Level 3 Creative Practice – Art, Design and Communication course. You’ll explore a range of creative disciplines, developing your design skills, artistic techniques and conceptual thinking to prepare for university or a career in the creative industries. Whether your interests lie in fashion, graphics, interiors or architecture, this course provides the foundation for you to define your own creative pathway.
During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:
- Fashion and textile design
- 3D design, architecture and product design
- Graphic design, illustration, advertising and animation
- Experimental and observational drawing
- Historical and contemporary work of artists and designers
You’ll also have the opportunity to:
- Work on live briefs and projects in the context of a professional designer
- Design, develop and present your own creative outcomes and final pieces
- Visit museums, galleries and creative institutions for research and inspiration
- Take part in specialist workshops at Central Saint Martins, the London College of Communication, London College of Fashion and the Courtauld Institute
- Collaborate with and learn from professional artists and designers – previous students have worked with 3D animators, storyboard artists, printmakers and fashion designers
- Build a professional portfolio to support your progression to university or employment in the creative sector

Entry requirements
- GCSE profile: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification (normally at Merit or above, where specified).
- Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete any required assessments and attend an interview to confirm the right starting level.
- Suitability: Positive attitude, strong attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
- English and Maths: Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader.
