About the course

This course is ideal if you are interested in developing practical skills in painting and decorating within the construction industry. It provides an introduction to the techniques used to prepare and finish interior and exterior surfaces.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: Minimum 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (or equivalent), including English and Maths at grade 3 or above; or successful completion of a relevant Entry Level qualification.
  • Initial assessment and interview: You will complete an English and maths assessment and attend an interview to confirm the right starting level.
  • Suitability: Interest in practical work and developing construction skills.
  • English and Maths: Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader.
  • Additional: Suitable clothing and safety footwear may be required for workshop activities.

This course is free for students aged 16-18. The course fee for adults (19+) is TBC.
