Course content

You will develop basic skills and relevant industry knowledge, through experiential learning of selected techniques and products.

This course is designed for individuals who wish to achieve the basic skills required for progression in the hairdressing or beauty industry from junior level. It will ensure you are on the right path in developing sufficient communication and occupational skills for progression onto a Level 1 or Level 2 hairdressing or beauty related programme.

At the next level, you will develop skills such as blow-drying, styling, dressing long hair, doing hair treatments, basic make-up, basic manicure, basic pedicure and teamwork.

Students who wish to develop their literacy skills will also benefit, as this subject will be embedded within the vocational course.

You will be given an initial assessment to ensure that you have basic writing and reading skills in English.

You will also need to have good communication skills, a friendly and pleasant personality, as well as good levels of personal presentation. In addition, you should be willing to work to deadlines.
