Fashion and Textiles
This course is designed for students who are interested in developing practical skills in fashion, textiles and garment construction. You will explore creative design processes while learning how garments and textile products are created within the fashion industry.
The course combines practical studio work with creative design development, allowing you to experiment with fabrics, materials and techniques while developing your own design ideas. You will build a portfolio of work that demonstrates your creativity and technical skills.
You’ll also have an opportunity to deepen your appreciation of the industry and skills and develop your practice through visits to the Fashion and Textile Museum – the only UK museum dedicated to showcasing fashion and textiles. Previous students have showcased their work by staging end of year exhibitions hosted at the museum. As a student at Newham College London, you’ll be entitled to visit the Fashion and Textiles Museum for free!
