Extended Project Qualification
Course content
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is studied alongside your A Levels and is equivalent to half an A Level. It is particularly valued by research-intensive universities and is ideal for students who enjoy independent study and coursework-based projects.
The EPQ allows you to choose a topic that interests you and explore it in depth. You’ll gain invaluable skills in research, project management and independent learning, all of which will prepare you for higher education and future employment.
Key features include:
- Undertaking an independent project on a topic of your choice — linked to your A Levels or an unrelated area of personal interest
- Planning, researching and producing a single, extended piece of work
- Choosing your preferred format: a written report, extended essay, design, artefact or performance
You will:
- Develop advanced research, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Learn to manage your time and present your findings effectively
- Receive one-to-one guidance from a dedicated project tutor
