About the course

This course will develop skills and knowledge needed for a business start-up. It will give you an understanding of the initial processes and requirements of a business start-up, knowledge of the first steps in creating a business start-up, including the marketing, legal and financial requirements, and an understanding of how to write a business plan.

The course will focus on the study of starting a business and support in creating a business plan. The objective is to gain an understanding of the steps of creating and developing a business start-up, develop an awareness of their own business skills and increase self-awareness and aid personal development.

You will complete four mandatory units listed below and a further four optional units.

  • Initial steps for a business start-up
  • Marketing for a business start-up
  • Legal and financial considerations for a business start-up
  • Developing a business plan

Entry requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs including Math and English grade 4 and above or functional skills Level 2 English and math.

Progression

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to further Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications in areas where business skills are of importance.
