About the course

Refine your creative and technical expertise with this Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Hairdressing. This course is designed for learners who have completed a Level 2 qualification and want to progress into senior stylist or salon management roles. You’ll master advanced techniques in cutting, colouring and styling while gaining the knowledge required to manage salon operations effectively.

During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:

  • Monitoring and maintaining health and safety in the salon

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification (normally at Merit or above, where specified).
  • Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete any required assessments and attend an interview to confirm the right starting level.
  • Suitability: Positive attitude, strong attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
  • English and Maths:Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader..
  • Additional checks (if required): Some courses need a DBS check for placements; kit/uniform or professional presentation may also be required, depending on the course.
  • NVQ/VRQ Level 2 in Hairdressing (or relevant industry experience) and current salon employment; professional kit and uniform required.
