About the course

Advance your expertise and creativity with this Level 3 Barbering course. Building on your existing skills, you’ll develop advanced cutting and styling techniques, precision beard design, and client consultation skills while gaining an understanding of leadership and salon management within the modern barbering industry.

During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:

  • Advanced cutting and fading techniques
  • Creative and precision beard shaping
  • Advanced consultation and customer service
  • Maintaining health, safety and hygiene in the salon
  • Promoting products and services to clients
  • Supervising and supporting junior team members
  • Developing leadership and managerial skills in a barbering environment

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification (normally at Merit or above, where specified).
  • Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete any required assessments and attend an interview to confirm the right starting level.
  • Suitability: Positive attitude, strong attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
  • English and Maths:Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader.
  • Additional checks (if required): Some courses need a DBS check for placements; kit/uniform or professional presentation may also be required, depending on the course.
  • Level 2 qualification in Women’s Hairdressing or Barbering; professional kit/uniform required.

How much will this course cost?

This course is free for students aged 16-18.

The course fee for adults (19+) is TBC.
