Course content

Explore your creativity and develop essential skills in Art and Design. You’ll experiment with colour, form and perspective through drawing, mixed media and design projects, bringing your ideas to life through professional briefs.

Visits to museums and galleries — including our own Fashion and Textiles Museum — will inspire your work and broaden your understanding of the creative industries.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: Minimum 4 GCSEs at grades 9–2 (or equivalent), including English and maths at grade 2 or above; or successful completion of a related Entry Level 3 programme.
  • Initial assessment: You’ll complete an English and maths assessment so we can confirm the right starting level for your study programme.
  • Suitability: A positive attitude to learning, good attendance record and the ability to work with others. For people-facing or presentation-based courses, we also expect good communication and professional personal presentation.
  • Ongoing English and maths: You’ll continue to study English and/or maths if you have not yet achieved grade 4.
  • Additional checks (where relevant): For courses with work placements (e.g., childcare/health), a DBS check may be required by the placement provider.
