About the course

Biology is the study of life in all its complexity — from microscopic cells to global ecosystems. You’ll explore human biology, genetics, disease, biodiversity and ecology, developing a scientific understanding of how living organisms function, evolve and interact.

This course combines theory with practical investigation, helping you apply biological concepts to issues in health, the environment and biotechnology.

A Level Biology is essential for entry to Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and related health or life science degrees. It also supports progression to courses such as Biomedical Science, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Sports Science and Environmental Science.

If you wish to study a medicine-related degree at university, you will need a high grade in A Level Biology.
