Course content

Advance your skills and expertise with this Level 3 Beauty Therapy course. Building on your Level 2 qualification, you’ll develop advanced practical techniques and professional knowledge to prepare for employment in salons, spas, clinics or self-employment. The course focuses on refining your client care, technical ability and understanding of the beauty industry at a senior level.

During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:

  • Working effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Health, safety and hygiene in the salon
  • Client care and communication
  • Promoting beauty products and services
  • Body massage and Indian head massage
  • Facial and body electrotherapy treatments
  • Microdermabrasion and skin rejuvenation
  • Hot stone therapy and advanced massage techniques

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on experience through work placements in professional beauty environments
  • Attend guest lectures from leading brands such as Dermalogica and other industry professionals

Open Events at Newham College

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification (normally at Merit or above, where specified).
  • Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete any required assessments and attend an interview to confirm the right starting level.
  • Suitability: Positive attitude, strong attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
  • English and Maths: Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader..
  • Additional checks (if required): Some courses need a DBS check for placements; kit/uniform or professional presentation may also be required, depending on the course.
  • Level 2 Beauty Therapy plus at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4+, including English and Maths; professional kit/uniform required.
