This Higher National Certificate in Computing is designed for adults who want to develop higher-level technical knowledge and practical skills for the digital sector. You will gain a broad grounding in computing, including programming, systems, networking and professional practice, while developing the academic and problem-solving skills needed for higher study or career progression.
The course combines theory with practical, work-related learning. You will complete assignments, projects and technical tasks that help you apply computing principles to real-world digital challenges.

Entry requirements
- Qualification profile: GCSE English, maths and science at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent, plus a relevant Level 3 qualification such as BTEC, A Levels or Access to HE.
- Vocational route: BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Computing, or a related subject, normally at pass profile set by the college.
- Adult learner route: relevant work experience, professional qualifications or prior learning may be considered.
- English language: applicants whose first language is not English may need to demonstrate English language ability, for example IELTS 5.5 overall with reading and writing at 5.5, or equivalent.
- Interview: you will attend an interview and may complete an assessment to confirm the right level of study.
