Work placements
Test out a career and build your skills with a work experience placement.
All 16-19 year old students receive a minimum of one week of hands-on, practical work experience linked to your vocational study programme. Our Work Experience team will secure the right work placement that matches your skills and interests and will provide continual support and guidance during your placement.
If you’re studying at Level 2 or 3, you will receive a two-week work experience block placement. If you’re on a Transitional T Levels programme, you will get an extended placement with two days a week with a high-profile local or national employer.
Our high profile placements and work experience partners include Merlin Entertainment, Airbus, Pure Gym, Barts Health NHS Trust, Credit Suisse, Richard House Hospice, HMRC, the DfE, Higgins Construction, The Landmark Hotel, Hilton Hotels, Tony and Guy, Asprey’s Casino, National Rail and Casa Malevo.

You will be matched with an employer that complies with the East London Business Alliance (ELBA) competencies to give you the employability skills needed for the world of work beyond your qualification:
- Communication skills
- Teamwork skills
- Resilience in challenges and overcoming setbacks
- Problem solving in business
- Leadership of self and others
- Self-management of time and work
Beyond College
Work experience could result in a job offer, or give you an advantage when applying for vacancies in the future. Whatever the outcome, you will have a professional reference to add to your CV.
We encourage all students to take part in order to develop the skills, abilities and personal qualities necessary to succeed. By blending theory with practical experience, you will develop your skills and start your career with confidence.
