About the course
If you are interested in developing your abilities towards a career in high-quality tailoring, then this course is for you. The course will also be suitable if you are interested in other careers in garment production. There is a high demand for people with expert tailoring skills, and good career prospects in tailoring and garment production.
Bespoke means handcrafted and individually made. Bespoke tailoring involves the personal attention of a cutter who measures the customer, creates and cuts a pattern, and directly supervises the making and fitting of the garment. You will learn about basic tailoring and the technical and practical skills involved in the hand production of tailored garments.
You’ll also have an opportunity to deepen your appreciation of the industry and skills and develop your practice through visits to the Fashion and Textile Museum – the only UK museum dedicated to showcasing fashion and textiles. Previous students have showcased their work by staging end of year exhibitions hosted at the museum.
As a student at Newham College London, you’ll be entitled to visit the Fashion and Textiles Museum for free!
