About the course

Prepare for a career in the legal and professional services sector through this Level 3 T Level in Legal Services. This course is designed for students who are interested in law, justice and how legal systems operate within society and business.

Designed with employers, this two-year course combines classroom learning with a substantial industry placement to help you develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to progress into legal services or related careers.

The course provides a strong foundation in legal principles and professional practice, helping you understand how legal organisations support clients, businesses and the wider community.

During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:

  • the legal system in England and Wales
  • careers within the legal profession
  • professional ethics, regulation and client care
  • legal research and preparing legal documentation
  • business and financial contexts of legal services
  • security, risk and confidentiality in legal practice
  • the role of technology and digital systems in modern legal services

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

  • develop research, analytical and professional communication skills

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above; or successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification (normally at Merit or above, where specified).
  • Initial assessment and interview: You’ll complete any required assessments and attend an interview to confirm the right starting level.
  • Suitability: Positive attitude, strong attendance, and the ability to work safely and professionally with others.
  • English and Maths:Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader..
  • Additional:
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs including English 5 and Maths 5; DBS check required for placement.

  • Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) in Legal Services or Professional Services (Level 4–5)
  • Degree programmes such as Law, Criminology or Business Studies
  • Professional legal training through CILEX Professional Qualifications

Other:

  • Employment in legal services roles such as Business Assistant in a legal services function, Paralegal or EO Caseworker
  • Apprenticeships including Level 3 Paralegal or Level 4 Conveyancing Technician
  • Progression to specialist legal roles such as Level 4 Probate Technician
