About the course

A Level Geography explores how natural environments and human societies interact and change over time. You will investigate major global challenges such as climate change, urbanisation, population growth and resource management, while developing strong analytical and research skills.

This course combines classroom learning with fieldwork and independent investigation. You will analyse real-world case studies and geographical data to understand how environments, economies and communities are shaped at local, national and global levels.

Geography is highly valued by universities and employers because it develops critical thinking, data analysis, problem-solving and communication skills.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above.
  • Subject requirement: GCSE Geography at grade 5 or above is preferred.
  • English and maths: GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 5 or above.
  • Interview: You will attend an interview to discuss your suitability and interest in the subject.
  • Additional: A strong interest in global issues, environments and current affairs will support success on the course.

Level 3 English/Maths Disclaimer
Applicants who meet all other requirements but do not yet have the required English or Maths grade may still be considered for a place, on the condition that they study and achieve this qualification alongside their main course. Final decisions are made by the senior course leader.
