About the course

Build your creative and technical skills for a future in media. This practical Level 2 course introduces you to key areas of the creative media industry, from film and TV production to design, advertising and journalism. You’ll learn through hands-on projects using industry-standard equipment and software while developing the teamwork, communication and research skills needed for further study or employment.

During the course, you’ll explore topics such as:

  • TV production and film marketing
  • Design using software such as Photoshop
  • Advertising, radio and magazine industries

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

Entry requirements

  • GCSE profile: Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (or equivalent), including English and Maths at grade 3 or above.
  • Suitability: Ideal for students with a keen interest in film, photography, design, and media production who wish to develop practical and creative skills in preparation for advanced study.
  • Additional guidance: You’ll be asked to attend an interview and may need to provide examples of creative work or a short portfolio to demonstrate your interest and potential.
  • Ongoing English and Maths: You’ll continue to study English and/or Maths if you have not yet achieved a grade 4.

Progression

Successful completion of this course can lead to a Level 3 qualification in Creative Media Production, Digital Media, or a related subject such as Photography, Film, or Graphic Design.

You could also progress into an apprenticeship or entry-level role within the creative industries, including media production, advertising, social media content creation, or journalism.
