About the course
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is studied alongside your A Levels and is equivalent to half an A Level. It is particularly valued by research-intensive universities and is ideal for students who enjoy independent study and coursework-based projects.
The EPQ allows you to choose a topic that interests you and explore it in depth. You’ll gain invaluable skills in research, project management and independent learning, all of which will prepare you for higher education and future employment.

- Undertaking an independent project on a topic of your choice — linked to your A Levels or an unrelated area of personal interest
- Planning, researching and producing a single, extended piece of work
- Choosing your preferred format: a written report, extended essay, design, artefact or performance
You will:

- Receive one-to-one guidance from a dedicated project tutor
Entry requirements
- GCSE profile: Minimum of 5 GCSEs with an average grade of 5 or above.
- Subject-specific grades: English Language at grade 5 and Mathematics at grade 4.
- Additional guidance: Students wishing to study this programme must discuss this option with their tutor after enrolment.
- Suitability: Ideal for independent learners who wish to deepen their research and academic writing skills alongside A Levels.
