The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Head of School for our 16-19 English and Maths School. This role involves leading and managing the English and Maths curriculum.

You will report to the Assistant Director and will oversee the performance of the school. The role requires exceptional leadership and management skills to ensure that all staff across the campuses are supported, guided, and performance-managed to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators.

As Senior Head of School, you will take the lead in developing and delivering outstanding teaching and learning, setting a high standard and acting as a role model for all staff across the College. You will play a central role in the quality assurance and improvement processes within the school, ensuring that systems are robust and aligned with the college’s quality framework and Ofsted requirements.

This position also includes responsibility in managing behaviour, attendance, and punctuality to maximise learner success. Additionally, there will be a teaching commitment of up to 108 hours.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the English and Maths curriculum for 16-19 learners, specifically in Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications. They must demonstrate a successful track record of managing large teams effectively, driving staff performance, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).

Strong leadership skills are essential, with a focus on building cohesive teams, fostering a positive working environment, and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. The candidate should also be adept at implementing quality assurance processes to ensure continuous improvement and excellent learner outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to use data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions, presenting clear breakdowns of performance and outcomes from data sourced through internal software systems. They will demonstrate a capacity to translate this data into actionable plans to drive continuous improvement in teaching, learner progress, and overall school performance.

A thorough understanding of funding conditions and compliance is essential, ensuring that the school meets all requirements while maximising available resources. The candidate will be solutions-focused, demonstrating adaptability in addressing challenges, and possess a flexible mindset that allows them to reprioritise workload effectively, even while managing a large and growing team and organisation.

They will be an innovative thinker, capable of developing and enhancing the curriculum, with a proactive approach to linking English and Maths to broader educational areas, such as vocational courses. The ability to manage change, inspire staff, and drive initiatives that improve learner engagement, behaviour, attendance, and success rates is key.
