Course content

The course is for volunteers who are interested in supporting English Language learning in a variety of settings. It is ideal for people currently volunteering and interested in setting up their own volunteering groups or for people interested in developing the skills to move into teaching.
It is a course that gives an excellent start into the skills required to support the teaching and Learning of English in a wide variety of settings.

This course is divided into 3 parts. It is recommended that all 3 elements are completed but depending on your skills and experience you may be able to join at different times in the year.

  • Level 1 Award in Volunteering to Support English Language Teaching and Learning - Sept 24
  • Level 1 Award in Employability Skills
  • Level 2 Award in Volunteering to Support English Language teaching and learning.

  • Preparing to Support ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teaching and Learning
  • Using Activities and Resources with ESOL(English for Speakers of other Languages) learners
  • Preparing to Support ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teaching and Learning
  • Using Activities and Resources with ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages) learners
A range of optional units such as Improving Reading Skills are also available and will be discussed with you as you start.

You need a good level of written and Spoken English and an enjoyment of helping people. You will meet the teachers before the course, and they will support you by assessing your skills and recommending the correct course and level. Please feel free to apply so we can advise you on your starting point.
